I use Nia as a therapeutic adjunct to Physical Therapy Rehabilitation. I individualize private Nia sessions for people with back pain, neck pain, chronic fatigue, sports injuries, and orthopedic issues. I also offer private sessions for those New to Nia and for those who want to work on Nia technique and alignment.
Please contact me to find out if a private Nia session is covered by your health insurance.
What is Nia?
Nia is a workout, movement practice, lifestyle and personal growth program.
More than a physical fitness program, Nia is a way to condition, heal and transform your body, mind, emotions and spirit.
Nia is a system that blends Eastern and Western movements, concepts and philosophy derived from three main movement areas: Martial Arts (mindful precision), Dance Arts (personal expression) and Healing Arts (self-healing).
The philosophy of Nia is based on "The Joy of Movement" and rooted in the pleasure principle: If it feels good, keep doing it; if it hurts, stop and adapt what you do to feel better.
Nia is adaptable to people of all shapes and sizes and leads to health, wellness and fitness.
A therapeutic Nia session will be customized to your needs and may include a blend of the following Nia tools:
- 52 moves that condition the whole body
- 5 sensations: flexibility, agility, mobility, strength, and stability
- 9 Movement Forms: drawing from dance, martial arts, and healing arts
- 5 stages of healing-based on developmental movement
